Red Komodo | An issue I had with the exposure

This is my first Red Camera. When recording inside the camera the exposure looks correct, not overblowing any RGB's highlights or shadows. But when I go to color grade in post I have to bring up the exposure and by doing so it causes more grain than I desire. I overexpose when recording to get the correct clarity I want in post. The grain is minimal in this example, but when I record outdoors it’s more prevalent.

Is this something that is normal with Red cameras or is it something that I am doing wrong? I calibrated the sensors (black shading) and this problem still persisted.

Side note: The camera is a beast. It's definitely worth the money. The color science is phenomenal.

Also any suggestions are helpful.

The iPhone HDR is a pain. Halfway through the video I finally figured on how to take off the HDR.
