Why NASA & China's BeiDou Are In A Race To Establish Laser Communications Network In Space

China and the United States are in an intense race to establish laser communication networks in space. Beijing has conducted a pioneering high-speed communication experiment in its BeiDou navigation system and ground stations on Earth. Instead of using radio signals between its satellites, the scientists used laser signals.
