Call Of Duty:Vanguard received huge backlash from the Muslim community after it was revealed that a Zombies map feature pages of the Quaran ripped out, dirtied, bloodied, and tossed on the floor.
The Quran is the primary religious text of Islam, and should be treated with respect and reverance according to their teachings...so when pages of the Quran were scene on the floor of a zombies map in the new Call Of Duty:Vanguard, covered in stains, dirt, and blood, the backlash was strong and immediate.
Calling out the Vanguard devs for the disrespectful treatment on their holy text, the muslim community was joined by CoD players in demanding a change. Activision Apologized for what they called “Insensitive content to the Muslim community” that was included by mistake, and that it was removed as soon as they became aware of the offending images.
Still, the question remains why a dev would include the holy text of the Islamic faith ripped apart and stained on the floor of a Call Of Duty Zombies map in the first place, and how such an oversight made it all the way to the game's release. And while that question remains unanswered, at least the images behind the controversy were swiftly dealt with by Activision.
