While many parts of KwaZulu-Natal have suffered untold damage this week, the suburb of Phonenix received special attention after videos surfaced on social media, showing residents carrying various weapons and setting up roadblocks. There were also unconfirmed reports of racial attacks and killings between Indians and Africans in the area.
