Henry Tenby presents an unidentified cockpit window from an Air Canada aircraft. Can you positively identify which aircraft this is from? Because of the black paint around the edges of the window we know that this panel came from an Air Canada airliner that was painted in the black nose livery that spanned from 1965 until approximately 1979. At first I thought it might be an eyebrow window from a DC-8 or DC-9 but the shape is not correct for that. I was also thinking it was a side cockpit window from a Vickers Viscount, but it is not perfect for that shape either. I also thought it being a Vickers Vanguard cockpit window but that is not accurate either. The window came from Winnipeg, Manitoba, where it was owned by a collector for many decades and was then sold at local auction in the summer of 2022. Air Canada retired and stored their Vickers Viscount fleet in Winnipeg, and some surrounding airfields in the 1970s into the 1980s .. so at first glance it made sense that this might be a Viscount window, but it certainly is not the case. If anyone can positively identify exactly what aircraft this came from please let me know.
