Domestic Violence Defined and the Consequences of a Restraining Order

We had a discussion about how we define domestic violence, and the differences between the fine line existing between legitimate domestic violence, and other situations that arise that don't quite rise to that level. Interestingly, the court has expanded domestic violence to include any conduct that disturbs the mental and physical peace of an individual. We discussed how to interpret that going forward, including the severe fallout that can occur when a restraining order is granted in family law court.
