US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping mainly “talked past each other” during a virtual meeting which lasted for more than two hours on Friday, ASPI’s Michael Shoebridge says.
“Biden talked about the effect of Putin’s war on global security and things like energy and food prices,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“Xi refused to engage on that – calls it a 'Ukraine crisis' and hasn’t stepped away from him adopting Putin’s narrative that this war is all somehow the fault of the US and Putin is only killing a whole lot people in Ukraine because the US has forced him somehow to do it.”
