The nuclear-powered submarines of three western powers including the US, UK and France have docked in Scotland’s naval base HMNB Clyde. The confluence of nuclear-submarines in Scotland come amid heightened tensions between NATO and Russia over Ukraine.
While the gathering of NATO submarines could be coincidental, it comes amid heightened tension with Russia. Adding to the speculation is the fact that there is no official submarine drill scheduled in Clyde. All three countries have appeared secretive about the movement of their nuclear submarines to Scotland.
