Neither (asked asked asked)

My bitterness breaks through daily like felons in thin jails/
and once I told you this and you asked if I am the felon or the jail/
and as is too often the case/ I could not answer/
so I just sat their catatonic until I was forced to be neither/
and you smiled at me and said sometimes neither is the best option/
so I asked you if now I am neither then what am I/
and you said that I am the jail’s warden who better be careful because the thickness of walls is definitely not neither/
and I asked if it is not neither then what is it/ and you said let’s get something to eat/
and we did
