Keating seemed to be ‘kowtowing to China’ in National Press Club address

Sky News host Rita Panahi says former prime minister Paul Keating seemed to be “kowtowing to China” during his National Press Club address.

Ms Panahi said Mr Keating claimed Beijing does not pose a threat to Australia despite its military build up in the South and East China Seas.

“I can’t understand why Labor in particular has this streak of China apology going through it, whether it be Paul Keating, or Mark McGowan or Bob Carr,” The Institute of Public Affairs’ Gideon Rozner told Ms Panahi.

“For all of his foibles, at least Scott Morrison and the Liberals understand the clear and present danger - and I do mean danger - posed by China and they deserve to be re-elected on that basis and that basis alone.”
