Golden Gate Park recently had an event called Piano in the Park and it made me think about the beauty of music and how striving to be better at playing music is a sight to behold. Think of it this way - when you first pick up an instrument, you’ll start practicing a certain piece over and over until you’ve perfected it. You don’t berate yourself for the mistakes you’ll make because you know it’s part of the process of becoming better.
I hope we can apply that to everything else in life. We’re not terrible at that new hobby, we’re still learning the ropes. We’re not unaccomplished, we’re still growing. I hope we can overcome the pressure of being perfect right away, because you’ll truly find your own figurative music in the process.
