"If he loses he should go to a desert island and not come back - it'll be tough for him.” (Eddie Hearn)
O.M.G, Things are getting heated up as December is only weeks from rolling in! While many are excited for Christmas and seasonal holidays, the world of boxing is shaking with anticipation of an upcoming match. Many predictions and bets are revolving around this particular match, and from what it seems, this might become one of the most viewed bout ever! So, who’s competing? The youtube sensation, the 22-year-old “problem child”, Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury, boxer plus Celebrity.
For weeks, they have been going back and forth, bantering and mocking each other as they prepare for their upcoming showdown. While Jake Paul muses about his intense seven-month training session, he compares his “spartan” life to the doughnuts-filled life of the Tommy Fury. “ "I was secretly in camp for seven weeks before Tommy signed the contract while he was at the club partying, smoking cigars at his brother's fight, and eating Krispy Kreme’s on cute dates with Molly.”
Of course, his opponent wasn’t going to devour his doughnuts silently, accompanied by his boxer, half-brother, Tyson Fury. Tommy too showed off his intense workout. "Time to do what should’ve been done to you a long time ago….You’re getting knocked spark out. @jakepaul".
And it seems, it’s more than just the fans with their eyes glued to the two boxers' prep and potential match. Many pro fighters have stepped in to predict the outcome of this exciting battle. From the way these predictions are going, it seems that due to his bond with the long-line of boxers in the family, Tommy Fury is backed by many to emerge victorious over YouTube influencer Jake Paul. So, what are the predictions? We have collected them to curb your curiosity. Take a look:
Number one, pro-fighter Eddie Hearn is looking forward to Tommy Fury’s success, and he is a Lil too sure of it. As he puts it, “I have only seen Tommy Fury beat up a couple of guys who you or I could have beat, and then had four rounds in his last fight where he looked pretty average. But he is a boxer, and he is Tyson Fury's brother.” However, Eddie is quick to acknowledge Jake Paul as well, in his own words, comments that “The fact Jake Paul is taking the fight shows he believes he can win the fight. In that sense, I make him the favourite, but that doesn't say a lot about Tommy."
Ending his statement with a near-boost for the Fury, Hearn warns that if Tommy loses, "he should go to a desert island and not come back - it'll be tough for him.”
Wow, that’s a lot similar to Tyson Fury’s words, who himself has stepped in to warn both Paul and his own brother, Tommy. He states, “I think the fight needs to happen – Tommy and Jake will get the fight done. If Tommy can't splatter Jake Paul, I'll retire him from boxing myself. If he can't beat Jake Paul, forget about boxing. Because he's got ambitions of being a world champion, never mind beating some YouTube guy. But it's a great fight for the social media world and for all the kids out there who support them both.”
However, he warns his brother that if he loses then, “It's a great fight to watch, it's a spectacle. But Tommy – his name's Fury. If he can't beat Jake Paul, I'll have to change his name.”
The Fury brothers are backed up by John Fury who is keen on his younger’s success and says that. “Well if he gets Jake Paul, we'd like to go after his brother Logan Paul. Once he beats, sorry when he smashes Jake Paul, he'll take on his brother Logan and smash him along if he fancies it. But let me tell you, once they see what Tommy does to Jake Paul, they're not going to want it."
