Discharge Over a Notch (H6) Experiment - Fluid Mechanics - TecQuipment

In this video we will be demonstrate the Discharge Over a Notch Experiment (H6), one of the many fluids mechanics experiments that can be used with TecQuipment's Hydraulic Bench.

This allows students to carry out tests on relationships between upstream water levels and weir discharge for various different shaped notches, for a greater practical understanding of head against discharge and the coefficient of discharge for notches.

Weirs have different shapes and designs, which work better for different applications. The most common include; broad-crested, sharp-edged (or sharp-crested) or weirs that have a shaped ‘notch’. Five weir plates are supplied that fit into this sealed groove in the channel section. Two V shaped notch weirs, a Trapezoidal (Cipoletti) weir and a linear head/flow weir.
