DC Bandipora conducts extensive tour of Nowgam & adjoining villages; holds Public Interaction
Bandipora, October 13: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of twin Villages of Nowgam in Sumbal Sub Division of Bandipora district and held public interactions to listen to public issues, grievances and demands.
He was accompanied by Sr Superintendent of Police Bandipora Mohammad Zahid, JKPS, member of members of District Development Council, Block Development Council, Assistant Commissioner Development Abdul Rashid Dass, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Panchyat Bandipora, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, R&B, PDD, PMGSY, BDO and other senior officers of the district.
On the occasion locals interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and approved him about the issues faced by them with regard to basic amenities and sought early redressal of their grievances. Locals raised the issues including availability of rural connectivity, establishment of JK Bank Branch in the area, construction of tiled paths, macadamization , upgradation of roads, construction of paths and culverts, availability of safe drinking water, augmentation of power infrastructure etc.
The DC after giving patient hearing to the delegations, he passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances.
He said conducting public outreach programmes provides an important feedback for the government to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the corridors of power in secretariat or other government offices.
He said unless the district officers will not reach to far-flung areas, no progress and redressal of grievances is possible. He urged the officers to regularly visit far flug areas to redress the grievances ad also take feedback from the people besides first hand appraisal of the developmental activities.
While interacting with the people, Dr Owais appealed to people to get vaccinated at earliest and asked them to adopt Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) at all public places including all religious and social gatherings. He instructed Health and revenue Officers to strictly monitor covid guidelines and vaccination process besides testing at all gatherings.
