A couple of members of the California Parole Board recommended Sirhan B. Sirhan, the assassin of New York Senator and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in 1968 following the latter's victory in the California primary, for parole and release. Two of RFK's surviving nine children have recommended release, but most of the rest of the children have said Sirhan should NEVER be released from prison. What Sirhan did wasn't just a crime against the Kennedy family, it was a crime against the United States. Sirhan, 77, can stay in prison and rot.
Correction: Nixon through third parties cut a deal with South Vietnam, not Hanoi, to torpedo the 1968 Paris Peace talks.
Note: Douglas Kennedy is the next-to-the-youngest of the RFK-Ethel children. He was born March 24, 1967, so he was a little over a year old when his father died. Rory is the youngest and was born after her father was murdered by Sirhan. RFK Jr. is the third oldest of the children, born January 17, 1954.
