تفسير قوله تعالى ولم يكن له كفواً أحد Tafseer of “Nor is there to Him any equivalent” Sheikh Salim

Translation text:
تفسير قوله تعالى (ولم يكن له كفواً أحد) Tafseer of “Nor is there to Him any equivalent” | Sheikh Salim Al Taweel
"وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ"
[الإخلاص:4]
"Nor is there to Him any equivalent" [Al-Ikhlas:4].
كفوا نكرة أم معرفة؟ نكرة، في سياق لم، في سياق النفي تفيد العموم، يعني ليس له أي كُفُو لا من الملائكة، لا من البشر، لا من الإنس
لا من الجن، ما له أي كُفُو
Any equivalent "كُفُوًا" is it an indefinite or definite noun? Indefinite (i.e., not a certain person or thing) used with "لم" (not), i.e., (indefinite nouns) used with negation indicates generality (i.e., all things). This means Allah has none equal or comparable to Him whether from the angels, humans, Jinn, etc. He has no equivalent.
والكفو هو النظير المثيل، يقال فلان كفو فلان
And كُفُو (kufuw) is the equal and the similar, we say a person is equal or similar to another one.
وهذه إحدى الآيات التي نفى الله فيها التمثيل وآيات كثيرة، من أشهرها
"وَلَمْ يَكُن له كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ"
[الإخلاص:4]
This is one of the ayaat (verses) where Allah negates any similarities to Him, and there are many verses about that; one of the most well-known ones is "Nor is there to Him any equivalent" [Al-Ikhlas:4].
وقوله جل وعلا "لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِۦ شَىْءٌ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِير"
[الشوري:11]
And the saying of Allah the Almighty: "There is nothing like Him; and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer" [Ash-Shuraa:11].
وقوله جل وعلا "هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيًّا"
[مريم:65]
And the saying of Allah the Almighty: “Do you know of any who is similar to Him?” [Maryam:65].
وقوله جل وعلا "وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ"
[النحل:60]
And "and for Allah is the highest description" [An-Nahl:60].

وفي آية "وَلَهُ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ"
[الروم:27]
"To Him belongs the highest description" [Ar-Rum:27].
وقوله تعالى"فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًا"
[البقرة:22]
And the saying of Allah the Exalted "So do not attribute to Allah equals" [Al-Baqarah:22].
وقوله جل وعلا "أَفَمَن يَخْلُقُ كَمَن لَّا يَخْلُقُ"
[النحل:17]
لا يستوون ما يستوي الخالق والمخلوق
And His saying "is then He, Who creates as one who creates not?" [An-Nahl:17]
They are not equal; The Creator and the creation are not equal.
ولذلك الكفار إذا ساووا بين الخالق والمخلوق في العبادة فيدخلون جهنم ويندمون ندما شديدا ويقولون
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ"”
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ"”
[97-98: الشعراء]
That’s why, the disbelievers, when they make the Creator equal to the creation in worship (by worshipping others besides Allah) and enter the hellfire, they will regret it greatly and say: "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error” “When we equated you with the Lord of all that exists” [Ash-shu’ara:97-98].
الله لا سوي له ولا كفؤ له ولا نظير لهو لا مثيل له ولا مثل له ولا شريك له
Allah, there is nothing equal to Him, nothing equivalent to Him, nothing look-alike, similar or like Him, and He has no partners.
ولم يلد ولم يولد ولم يتخذ صاحبة ولا ولدا، بل هو الواحد الأحد الذي لم يلد ولم يولد ولم يكن له كفوا أحد
He neither begets nor is begotten. He neither took a wife, nor a son. Rather, He is the Only One, Who neither begets nor is begotten, and there is non equal to Him.
