Additions, revisions, and deletions to the ICD-10-CM code take place every year on October 1. But some people forget that there are updates to the GUIDELINES as well. 😱 Here are the changes to the guidelines from the year 2021 to 2022.

As noted, the 2022 guideline updates go into effect on Oct 1, 2021, but will not be included in AAPC exams until January 1, 2022. You also cannot utilize your 2022 book for exams until January 1, 2022.
