ZINC 4   A systematic approach for designing battery management system for embedded applications

Designing battery management system for monitoring and management of energy resources as a part of battery powered embedded applications is found to be challenging task since the diversity of the system requirements. In this paper we define the unified framework for designing battery management system according to the given reference software and hardware architectures. The main architectural elements and their interactions in the given reference models, are identified based on the analysis of battery powered embedded application properties. The common scope of battery management system functionalities is extended to support development of energy-aware and power-aware embedded applications. Review and classification of battery-related and system-related parameters is also given.
